High Tea Review

at first glance, this one’s a bit of an odd choice but, once you climb the department store’s pretty marble stairs and take a seat in the brassiere’s original home, it’ll start to make sense. bennett’s department store is one of the uk’s oldest, and the menu certainly reflects that; lisa jean’s is where contemporary and creative dining meet tradition, in the very tastiest way possible. from the exceptional range of truly wonderful varieties of loose leaf teas to start your meal (both caffeinated and not)(but why wouldn’t you), to the range of different menus to suit your needs (from sunday brunch to the highest of teas), lisa jean’s really offers something for everyone.

everything we were served was made in-house and from scratch, and it was quite refreshing to hear that – in a world where strawberry jam is a dime a dozen, a secret-recipe lemon curd and raspberry compote on a table is always a nice touch, don’t you think?

I’d heard a lot of wonderful things about Lisa Jean and her fabulous idea of High Tea For High Heels but when I heard she had created a Christmas version, I was beyond excited!

Lisa Jean has put together such a great menu and you can tell it has been very well thought out.

Lunch Review
10th October 2016

I really couldn’t fault any dishes on lunch menu or the staff who were exceptionally helpful; pulling your chair out, placing a beautiful pristine white cloth on your lap or bringing the Prosecco over to your table. The service was impeccable.

Lisa Jean is exquisite fine dining in a lovely location that should be cherished as an icon of Derby. If you appreciate elegant food at a reasonable price Lisa Jean is a must visit.

High Tea Review
6th July 2016

The Brasserie is a visual spectacle in itself as you approach it with its two sweeping staircases winding up to the dining space, and we were greeted warmly as we arrived and introduced ourselves.

Lee himself came and showed us to our beautifully arranged table, set with pristine white cloth, polished cutlery and gorgeous Royal Albert china in the quintessentially genteel “Old Country Roses” pattern. Our chairs were pulled out for us and napkins placed gently in our laps as we settled in to do a spot of people watching from our fantastic vantage point.

We had thoroughly enjoyed every single bite we took, and I have no hesitation in saying that you will too.

The powerhouse coupling of Lee Bebbington and Lisa should be celebrated, and Derby is one lucky place for having Lisa Jean’s Brasserie.

This is a klaxon call for people who appreciate good food. If I had a car, I’d drive you to the brasserie myself. For gorgeous food that doesn’t cost the earth, where service is sublime and the scones will make you think you’re in heaven, head over to Lisa Jean’s Brasserie now.
